Ma issued the call when stumping for KMT's candidate Lee Ching-hua to act as a legislative constituent in Taipei county, at a gathering held yesterday morning at the Hsichi railway station.
Ma said the DPP does a poor job ruling the country, good only at using undesirable, fraudulent schemes to secure election victories. "The DPP should step down so that it can get a chance to reflect and improve itself," Ma said.
When speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the campaign headquarters of KMT legislative candidates Chang Ching-chung and Lo Ming-tsai in Taipei county, Ma also stressed that if he is elected president, he will manage to become a symbol for solidarity of all nationals and an international peace maker.
"Externally, I won't become a troublemaker in international community, and internally, I won't be a source for fueling confrontation between ethnics," Ma stressed, referring to the undesirable practices being undertaken by President Chen Shui-bian.
Ma said Chen's administration has recklessly and forcibly changed the name of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, removing the "Ta Chung Chih Cheng" plaque at the hall, regardless of the fact that the DPP has yet to revise the statute governing the said memorial hall to legalize the name change and plaque removal.
He said the DPP is trying hard to benefit from the confrontation and hatred between local ethnicities and those from mainland China fueled by its ongoing purposeful scheme.
The public should not allow the DPP to continue being a ruling party, because Taiwan's economy, society, social order and politics have been on the decline as a result of eight years of DPP rule. "If Taiwan continues to fall, its overall national strength and international competitiveness may be seriously undermined and Taiwanese people are likely to become 'alien labor' in other countries," Ma warned.
Meanwhile, when campaigning for KMT legislative candidate John Chiang in Taipei, the grandson of the late President Chiang Kai-shek, Ma said that after he is elected president, he will make the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall resume its original looks in accordance with legal procedures.
In addition, Ma said he will immediately open the local tourism market to mainland Chinese, allowing a maximum of 1.1 million mainland Chinese tourists to visit Taiwan during the first year of his year as president, followed by 3.6 million more in the third year. "Such a move will enable Taiwan to rake in NT$60 billion in tourism revenues, generate 40,000 job opportunities, and lower the jobless rate to under 3 percent from the existing 3.9 percent," Ma said.
On the same occasion, Chairman Wu Po-hsiung of the KMT, also blasted Chen for trying to generate hatred and separate Taiwan from the Republic of China (ROC) to secure a victory in the upcoming elections, and stressed that the KMT must win the upcoming legislative and presidential race without fail to assure a brighter future for Taiwan or the ROC.
